North Yorkshire is the biggest county in Northern England, and was previously one of three “ridings”(east ,north and west). Predominantly a rural county, we have some of the most beautiful landscapes for you to enjoy, with deep hidden valleys, broad sweeping moorland, the largest area of forest, and some stunning coastal scenery.
We have historic towns like our own sea port Whitby, which is just down the river, and what a lovely seaside town it is. Then we have York and Ripon with their cathedrals, and lots of small interesting market towns and villages.
Ruswarp goes back into antiquity, and can't compete with Whitby for pubs, but it offers the chance to avoid the crowds, has nice local facilities, and is still close by to the bustle and crowds of the town if you choose. The whole area is friendly and crime is rare.
Your hosts have lived in or near the village for 47 years, and love to hike and fish, and so have an extensive local knowledge to maximise your special holiday. We are happy to advise on places to eat, places to visit, and all those local things that make your holiday special.
We even have our own sea fishing charter boat “Warrior” which is MCA licenced and you can book to go deep sea fishing/whale watching or for a coastal cruise. And if the weather does turn wet, you will find that you can still have a nice day indoors at Esk View Cottage, with the electronic entertainment we have provided or just flop out in a comfy chair and listen to music, or read that new book.
